2 Paulo Buffa Chiavari Chairs

2 Paulo Buffa Chiavari Chairs

This rare set of two Italian dining chairs is made of mahogany, ebonized to give it them this  distinctive black colour. Designed by Paulo Buffa, called Chiavari after the town in northern Italy where this style of tall ladder back chairs was first made. They are very lightweight yet sturdy, with the original silk fabric from the 1940's.
There have been some recent restorations to the top of one chair, but overall, they are in good sturdy condition for the age of these delicate, unusual chairs. The price is for both. A pair of these chairs would normally have graced a hallway or reception during this period. but would add a statement feature in any entrance today..
