This wonderful work is a mid-century impressionist abstract painting on paper painted with inks and watercolour. The serene picture evokes a coastal scene of blue reeds, a pink sky and reflections in water. The painting is inscribed with the words San Francisco and a date underneath the painting on one side and a signature on the other. Both are quite faded, so it is difficult to be sure who painted the picture. Clearly the work of a very competent artist, very much in the style of Hans Hartung.
