Large Cadiz Grey Pendant Lamp by Rausch 1960s

Large Cadiz Grey Pendant Lamp by Rausch 1960s

This spectacular ball shaped pendant light is made from "cadiz" shell. A product from the Philippines that was popular in the 1960's. The individual petals are thin pieces of pearl shell edged in metal. A truly handcrafted piece. The effect when illuminated transforms the silvery grey of the lamp's petals into a stunning palette of browns, greys and creams. An ideal focal point to complement a modern interior in trendy tones. The maker is a German company called Rausch and is believed to have been inspired by Verner Panton's shell lamp designs of the period. It has a strong steel wire to hold it up from the ceiling and approximately 1 metre of cable. Requires up to 100 watt E 27 bulb.
